Fifteen eager students were anxious to begin the wrestling program at
Wyndmere School. Coach Bill Kelley was instrumental in
organizing the 1965 team. They had only
two matches: one with Enderlin
and the other with Lisbon. Those scoring undefeated matches were
Allen Hager, Sid Mauch, LeRoy Hager and Keith Duncan. Mr. Kelley
resigned in the spring of 1965 and David Downs, assistant coach,
assumed the leadership for the 1966 team. They came up with 3
wins, 5 losses and 3 ties. Very little interest remained
following the 1966 season, and lacking a qualified coach, the
program of wrestling was discontinued. If there was any
wrestling in the earlier school years, no records were kept.
